Karl Mandler, son of the locomotive driver and the Christian worker Agnes Mandler, born 1905 in Graz, grew up in Tirol. At 16 he is already chairman of the Socialist Workers' Youth Kufstein, later Social Democratic Party chairman and chairman of the Free Railway Union Kufstein, "Schutzbund" goes after the Civil War to the station, is released, joined the illegal Communist Party.
